How do I use the Auto-Responder in SmarterMail?

SmarterMail allows you to setup a custom auto-responder message, to automatically reply to email messages letting folks know you're not available / out of the office. If you use this feature in SmarterMail, best practice is to manually turn off the auto-responder feature when you no longer need it. The following instructions walk you through how to setup a custom auto-responder message, as well as how to turn the auto-responder feature off.

Setting up a Custom Auto-Responder

  1. Log into Web mail.
  2. Select Settings (the gear icon) from the menu on the left.
  3. Click on the Auto-Responder from the My Settings menu.
  4. Place a check next to the text that reads Enable auto-responder.
  5. Place a check next to the text that reads Disable responses to indirect mail.
  6. Place a check next to the text that reads Limit responses to once daily.
  7. Next click on the Message tab.
  8. Enter the custom message you would like to appear in the auto-response email, and click the Save button when finished.

Turning off the Auto-Responder

  1. Log into Web mail.
  2. Select Settings (the gear icon) from the menu on the left.
  3. Click on the Auto-Responder from the My Settings menu.
  4. Uncheck the box next to the text that reads Enable auto-responder.
  5. Click on the Save button.
